Infectious diseases are disorders that are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites that can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another.
In some cases, infection in humans is a consequence of exposure to an infected animal that harbors a pathogenic organism capable of infecting humans.
